Artist Statement:
The Hawaiian Tree Snail is an endangered species
that was once found over the entire island of Hawai‘i but is now located only
in a small area of the Kohala Mountains. It‘s population is less than 1000
individuals. They live up in trees and some stay in one tree their entire life.
If only they could carry the trees that they
need just as they carry their shells.
